Dear Maria, Many thanks for all of your wonderful hospitality during our recent stay at Il Trebbio. You and Massimo are always so generous with your time and in the sharing of your home. It makes for such a special week. Phil and I will always cherish our time at your spectacular villa.

I would highly recommend Il Trebbio to anyone! It is one of our absolute most favorite places to stay in Italy.  Nestled in a cozy estate with fascinating history, it is managed by one of the friendliest and most capable couples anywhere.  After our first stay in the summer of 2011 we were totally hooked and couldn't wait to get back the next year, taking two weeks instead of just one for our second visit.  Even so, it wasn't enough.  We feel as if we've become lifelong friends with Maria grazia and Massimo, and really enjoy or quiet, relaxing time on their meticulously maintained and expansive estate.  The pool is immaculate, the grounds are sprawling and private, and the kids absolutely loved it!  The villas, too, are wonderful.  Beautifully restored and cool in the summer heat, with air conditioning if wanted (thought we didn't use it much).

The location of the villa is also extraordinary.  It is within close striking distance of not only Cortona and Lago Trasimeno, but the train station in Terontola which makes access to Florence to the north and Rome to the south equally simple.  One of our favorite things to do at il Trebbio is to venture out to a nearby town, such as Montepulciaon, spend the day touring and lunching, then return to il Trebbio for a relaxing afternoon at the pool.  Ideal.

Again, we would recommend this location to anyone wishing to sample a low key, private, relaxing time in Tuscany/Umbria.

Thank you both very much for a wonderful stay in your apartment I Gelsi. We really enjoyed the house, the swimming pool , but most of all de kindness of you and your staff. You know how to give people a feeling of a warm welcome. Pity that you were not there to say goodbye to, but I am sure we will meet again.

There is one thing I have to mention. We still have a key of the apartment and of course we want to send it back to you. If you give me the address where you want the key to be send to. We will take car of it at once.

Maria Grazia,
Geoff and I are back home now since last night.  We had a fabulous time in Florence and Venice.  thank you so much for your directions to Florence.  It was a little confusing but
we found the car rental garage.

We love Villa Il Trebbio and hope to stay there again.  We are also recommending it to everyone.  Thank you for being so gracious and lovely.

Best regards to you and Massimo,

Donna and Geoff

Let me tell you about the most magical, restful place I know: Villa  Il Trebbio. My husband and I first rented the Tuscan villa at the foothills of Cortona when we celebrated our 20th anniversary. I wanted to return to Cortona, since I hadn't been there since studying art in 1978 with the UGA studies abroad program. This was a special trip and I was pleased that my husband Fred, loved Cortona and Tuscany as much as I did. I met Maria Grazia and Massimo, the owners of Il Trebbio and we became fast friends. She made our stay personal , relaxing and easy and helped plan our outings each day. 13 years later we are still returning to our " home away from home" in Cortona and have shared the villas with family and best friends. We love the owners and I know that you will too. Maria Grazia Is a descendent of the Bourbon family of France so she's very connected to everyone in the area. As one restaurant owner said, " This is a very, very famous family!" Maria Grazia and Massimo are warm, caring, kind and wonderful I've enjoyed dinner at their home, eating at the best local restaurants and knowing the inside scoop on where to shop, get your hair done and what new ( old Italian) dish I should try next. I feel like I've known Maria Grazia my whole life and she was the first person I called when my husband learned he had cancer. She said, "You must bring Fred to rest at Il Trebbio and he will heal and get his strength back". And I did...and he did! . She's also very passionate and fun and she wants you to truly embrace your stay in Tuscany and enjoy yourself. Her husband Massimo is quite the gentleman and we love and respect them both greatly.

Cortona is an Etruscan town and has been famous long before Frances Mayes ( Under the Tuscan Sun/ Dianne Lang) discovered it. As a matter of a fact it is always a comfort to me to visit Saint Margaret at the top of the mountain in her " Snow White" glass casket on the alter of Santa Margherita Church. She hasn't aged in the past 700 years! I also love going to the "Celles of St Francis" in Cortona to see the room that St Francis lived in after walking from Assisi and and where he started the Franciscian order. I  go to the Franciscan mass there each trip and enjoy hearing the beautiful singing from the monks there. Cortona has kept its Italian history and charm but has lots of English speaking people  since Georgia's study abroad has been there for 40 years. After a busy day of wine tasting in Avignonesi, the oldest vineyard in the world with Marco, Cortonas somelier, or training to Florence, driving to Sienna or Montepulchiano, it's always great to return home to our vill a Il Trebbio. Maria Grazia may have arranged a chef who's cooked  a scrumptious five course meal for us or she may join us for a glass of homemade lemoncello before retiring.

The villas are situated on a beautiful park like property and have a lovely swimming pool and hot tub. The bedrooms are furnished with authentic itailian antiques and they each have renovated "state of the art" bathrooms . I've stayed there each season and enjoyed swimming in the summer, picking olives form the olive trees or grapes from the vineyard in the fall, making fires in the fireplaces in the winter and welcoming the vast assortment of flowers bloom on the property in the spring. I always return with wine and olive oil from Il Trebbio. This helps my stay and memories last longer.

It's easy to fly into Rome, rent a car and drive the 2 hours to Cortona or train to Cortona and rent a car right there. (Autonoleggio il girasole). The villa is within an hours drive to many great Tuscan towns: San Gimignano, Sienna, Florence, Pisa, Assisi, Pienza, Arrezzo, chiani region, to ame a few. Everyone knows there is no better vacation than Tuscany but few people know about "Il Trebbio", our home away from home. I know that you'll enjoy it's charm as much as the Laniers do and return year after year.

Tuscany, a place that I was falling in love since I read a book " Under Tuscan Sun " by Frances Mayes.
I always wanted to visit the place and my dream finally came true on October 2012.
I was searching for a place to stay where can fulfill my dream and most importantly close to Cortona where the story took place.
I am so lucky to find the Villa il Trebbio and met Maria Grazia who is the owner of the villa.
We had rented the apartment I Gelsi where can accommodate all five of us, the apartment is full of rustic Tuscan style.
We had a fully equipped kitchen and a garden where we had our Tuscan wine under the starring sky every night!
It is definitely the best location so you can visit all the towns nearby in a day trip.
Maria Grazia is a very friendly and humour person who knows the Tuscan area very well, you can get all the information that you need for you day trip.
Villa il Trebbio is a home away from home and I will definitely come back one day!

We had a lovely time in Tuscany, and Maria Grazia and Massimo were superlatively lovely—especially during the ordeal of my father's fall and subsequent medical attention. I bought Maria Grazia a bunch of flowers just as a little thank you, and it moved her to tears. I don't think she realizes how inadequate a thank you that was!

My father is well on his way to recovery now.

The whole ordeal was made much easier by our hosts, and by the excellence of the medical care available and the geniality of everyone we encountered during that experience, including strangers at the ER who walked out to make sure we knew where to park, etc.

So please thank Maria Grazia and Massimo again for us.

Hello to All,
hope it was a great summer for everyone; it certainly was for the Pescatore family.
While planning for our trip, I met Elena, who does TuscanyChic blog. She was extremely helpful with planning and helpful hints.
In speaking with her after our return, she asked if I could do a travel story for her Blog.  It was just posted: "Summer in Tuscany: a Travel story by Ed"
You were all mentioned, hope you have a minute to read it.
Thanks again to all of you.

So please thank Maria Grazia and Massimo of Villa il Trebbio again for us.
